It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Buddy Teevens, the winningest Dartmouth football coach and innovator, at the age of 66.
Teevens was a beloved figure in the Dartmouth community, having served as head coach of the Big Green from 1987 to 1991 and again from 2005 to 2015. During his tenure, he led the team to three Ivy League championships and compiled a record of 77-60, making him the winningest coach in Dartmouth football history.
Teevens was known for his innovative approach to coaching. He was an early adopter of the spread offense, which has become a staple of modern football. He also implemented a number of safety measures to protect his players, including the use of mouthguards and the implementation of a concussion protocol.
In addition to his success on the field, Teevens was also a beloved figure off the field. He was known for his commitment to his players, both on and off the field. He was also an active member of the Dartmouth community, often attending local events and speaking at schools.
