The Boise State Broncos had a convincing victory over the Vanguard Lions on Saturday night, winning 89-55. Led by senior guard Emmanuel Agbo’s 19 points, the Broncos were able to pull away in the second half and secure the win.
Agbo was the star of the night, shooting 8-for-14 from the field and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. He also added four rebounds and three assists to his stat line. His performance was key in helping the Broncos build a double-digit lead in the second half.
The Broncos had a balanced scoring attack, with four players scoring in double figures. Senior forward Justin Rice had 14 points and seven rebounds, while junior guard Derrick Alston added 13 points and five assists. Sophomore guard Marcus Shaver Jr. chipped in 11 points and five rebounds, and senior forward Abu Kigab had 10 points and four rebounds.
The Lions were led by junior guard David Jean-Baptiste’s 17 points. He was the only Vanguard player to score in double figures, as the team shot just 33 percent from the field and 25 percent from 3-point range.
The Broncos dominated the glass, outrebounding the Lions 43-25. They also forced 16 turnovers while committing just nine of their own.
The win was Boise State’s fourth straight and improved their record to 11-2 on the season. The Broncos will look to keep their winning streak alive when they face off against San Diego State on Wednesday.
