The Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) recently announced the winners of their annual awards, and the list includes some familiar names. J.P. Crawford, Julio Rodriguez, and Luis Castillo have all been named winners of the BBWAA Awards.
J.P. Crawford is a shortstop for the Seattle Mariners and was named the winner of the American League Comeback Player of the Year Award. Crawford had a breakout season in 2020, hitting .255 with 10 home runs and 37 RBIs in just 57 games. He also had a .788 OPS and was a key part of the Mariners’ success this season.
Julio Rodriguez is an outfielder for the Seattle Mariners and was named the winner of the American League Rookie of the Year Award. Rodriguez had a stellar rookie season, hitting .276 with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs in just 59 games. He also had an impressive .845 OPS and was a key part of the Mariners’ success this season.
Finally, Luis Castillo was named the winner of the National League Comeback Player of the Year Award. Castillo had a great season for the Cincinnati Reds, posting a 3.21 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 12 starts. He also struck out 87 batters in just 71 innings pitched and was a key part of the Reds’ success this season.
These three players are all deserving winners of the BBWAA Awards, and it’s great to see them recognized for their efforts this season.
