On Sunday, the Oakland Raiders made history when they defeated the New York Giants 30-6 in Antonio Pierce’s interim coaching debut. Pierce, a former NFL linebacker, was named the Raiders’ interim head coach on Tuesday after the team fired Jon Gruden.
The Raiders had a strong start to the game, scoring a touchdown on their first possession. They continued to dominate the Giants throughout the game, outscoring them 30-6. Quarterback Derek Carr had a great day, throwing for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Josh Jacobs also had a strong performance, rushing for 112 yards and a touchdown.
The Raiders defense was also impressive, holding the Giants to just six points. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict led the way with eight tackles and two sacks. The Raiders also forced three turnovers, including an interception by safety Karl Joseph.
Pierce’s debut as interim head coach was a success, as the Raiders earned their first win of the season. After the game, Pierce said he was “very proud” of his team’s performance. He also praised his players for their hard work and dedication throughout the week.
The Raiders will look to build on this victory as they take on the Detroit Lions next week. With Pierce at the helm, the Raiders have a chance to turn their season around and make a run at the playoffs.
