It looks like the Dallas Cowboys will be turning to veteran quarterback Andy Dalton to start in place of the injured Bryce Young for Sunday’s game. Young suffered an ankle injury in last week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles and is expected to miss at least one game.
Dalton, who has been the Cowboys’ backup quarterback since signing with the team in 2020, will be making his first start of the season. He has been a reliable presence for the Cowboys, appearing in three games so far this season and completing 10 of his 13 pass attempts for 111 yards and a touchdown.
The Cowboys are hoping that Dalton can provide a spark to their offense, which has been struggling in recent weeks. With the team sitting at 3-7 on the season, they need to turn things around quickly if they want to make a run at the playoffs.
Dalton has plenty of experience as a starter, having started for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2011-2019. During that time, he led the Bengals to five playoff appearances and was named to three Pro Bowls. He also holds several Bengals franchise records, including most career passing yards (31,594) and most career touchdown passes (204).
The Cowboys will be hoping that Dalton can bring some of that success to Dallas and help them turn their season around. He will have to do so without the help of star wide receiver Amari Cooper, who is out with a hamstring injury.
It will be interesting to see how Dalton performs in his first start of the season. The Cowboys are hoping he can provide a spark to their offense and help them get back on track.
