The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup was a huge success, with the U.S. Women’s National Team taking home the trophy. But the tournament was also a success for Fox and Telemundo, who were the exclusive broadcasters of the event in the United States. According to Nielsen ratings, Fox and Telemundo saw a combined average of 1.3 million viewers for their coverage of the tournament, making it the most-watched Women’s World Cup ever in the U.S.

Fox and Telemundo were able to capitalize on the success of the U.S. team, as well as the increased interest in women’s sports in general. The final match between the U.S. and the Netherlands drew an impressive 5.3 million viewers, making it the most-watched soccer match on U.S. television since the 2014 Men’s World Cup Final.

However, other networks were not as successful in their coverage of the tournament. ESPN, which had exclusive rights to the 2015 Women’s World Cup, saw a decline in viewership this year, with an average of only 679,000 viewers for their coverage. NBC Sports Network also saw a drop in viewership, with an average of only 583,000 viewers for their coverage.

The success of Fox and Telemundo shows that there is a growing interest in women’s sports in the United States. It also shows that networks need to invest more in women’s sports if they want to capitalize on this growing interest. With the success of this year’s Women’s World Cup, it is likely that more networks will be looking to get involved in future tournaments.
