This week, Seattle Sounders midfielder Alex Roldan celebrated a double milestone. On Wednesday, the Sounders announced that they had signed Roldan to a new contract, and on Saturday, he married his long-time girlfriend, Kayla.
Roldan, who is the younger brother of Sounders captain Cristian Roldan, has been with the Sounders since 2017. He has made over 50 appearances for the team, scoring three goals and providing three assists. He has also been a key part of the team’s success in the MLS Cup playoffs, helping the Sounders win the championship in 2019.
The Sounders announced the new contract on Wednesday, and Roldan celebrated by getting married to Kayla on Saturday. The couple had been together for several years and had been planning the wedding for some time.
The Sounders organization was thrilled to see Roldan sign a new contract and celebrate his wedding in the same week. “We are very happy for Alex and Kayla,” said Sounders general manager Garth Lagerwey. “Alex has been an important part of our team for the past few years and we are excited to have him back for another season.”
Roldan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue playing for the Sounders. “I’m really excited to be staying with the Sounders and to be celebrating this double milestone with my family and friends,” he said. “I’m looking forward to continuing to help the team win championships and to starting this new chapter of my life with Kayla.”
It was a special week for Roldan and his family, and it is clear that he is looking forward to the future with the Sounders and with his new wife. Congratulations to Alex Roldan on his double milestone!
