The Seattle Mariners pulled off an impressive 10-inning victory over the Oakland Athletics on Monday night, thanks in large part to the efforts of AJ Pollock and Eugenio Suarez. Pollock, the Mariners’ center fielder, went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Suarez, the team’s third baseman, went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
Pollock got the Mariners off to a great start, driving in the game’s first run with a single in the first inning. He then added an RBI double in the fourth inning to give the Mariners a 2-1 lead. Suarez followed suit in the sixth inning, smashing a solo home run to put the Mariners up 3-1.
The Athletics wouldn’t go away, however, as they tied the game in the seventh inning. But Pollock and Suarez weren’t done yet. In the top of the tenth inning, Pollock drove in the go-ahead run with a single, and Suarez followed with an RBI single of his own to give the Mariners a 5-3 lead.
The Mariners’ bullpen then shut down the Athletics in the bottom of the tenth inning to secure the victory. It was a great team effort, but Pollock and Suarez were undoubtedly the stars of the show. Their combined five hits and four RBIs were instrumental in leading the Mariners to victory.
The win was a great way for the Mariners to start their season, and it was thanks in large part to Pollock and Suarez. They both had great nights at the plate and were key contributors in leading the Mariners to victory. If they can continue to produce like this throughout the season, the Mariners could be in for a successful year.
