On Tuesday night, the New York Provincial Women’s Hockey League (NYPWHL) kicked off its inaugural season with a 4-0 victory over Toronto. Led by the dynamic duo of forwards Shelton and Schroeder, New York was able to dominate the game from start to finish.
Shelton opened the scoring early in the first period with a beautiful wrist shot that beat the Toronto goaltender. She followed that up with another goal in the second period, this time on a breakaway. Schroeder also had a great game, scoring two goals and adding an assist. She was able to use her speed and agility to create scoring chances for herself and her teammates.
The rest of the New York team played well too, with their defense shutting down Toronto’s offense and their goaltending making some key saves when needed. The team was able to keep Toronto off the scoreboard for the entire game, which was a great accomplishment for their first game together.
The victory was a great way to start the season for New York and it showed that they have the potential to be a very competitive team this year. With Shelton and Schroeder leading the way, they should be able to make some noise in the league. It will be interesting to see how they do in their next game against Boston.
