It is with a heavy heart that we report that Jeff Jones, the head coach of the Old Dominion Men’s Basketball team, has been hospitalized following a heart attack while on vacation in Hawaii.
Jones, who has been the head coach of the Monarchs since 2016, was vacationing with his family when he suffered the heart attack. He was immediately taken to a local hospital where he is currently being treated.
The Old Dominion University community is deeply saddened by this news and is sending its thoughts and prayers to Coach Jones and his family. The university has released a statement expressing their support for Jones and his family during this difficult time.
The Old Dominion Men’s Basketball team has had a successful run under Jones’ leadership. During his tenure, the Monarchs have won two Conference USA championships and have made three NCAA tournament appearances.
Jones is highly respected in the basketball world and has been a mentor to many of his players. He has also been a leader in the Hampton Roads community, having served as a board member for several local charities.
We wish Coach Jones a speedy recovery and we hope that he will be back on the sidelines soon.
