It was an exciting finish to the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas as Scott Scheffler won the tournament by three shots. Tiger Woods, the tournament host, finished in 18th place.
The tournament was held at the Albany Golf Course in Nassau, Bahamas, and featured a field of 18 players. Scheffler, who started the day tied for the lead, shot a 6-under 66 on Sunday to finish at 20-under 268 for the tournament. He birdied four of his last five holes to secure the victory.
Woods, who was looking for his first win since 2013, had a roller coaster of a round. He started off strong with birdies on the first two holes, but then bogeyed four of the next five. He finished with a 1-over 73, leaving him at 8-under 280 for the tournament.
Despite not winning, Woods was pleased with his performance. “I’m very pleased with how I played this week,” he said. “I felt like I made some good swings and hit some good shots. I just didn’t make enough putts.”
Scheffler was thrilled with his win, saying: “It’s been a dream come true to win my first professional event and to do it here at the Hero World Challenge is really special.”
This tournament marked the first time Woods has competed since undergoing back surgery in August. He showed signs of improvement throughout the week and will now look ahead to the PGA Tour season, which begins in January.
Overall, it was an exciting finish to the Hero World Challenge, with Scheffler coming out on top and Woods finishing in 18th place. It will be interesting to see how Woods fares in the upcoming PGA Tour season.
