The University of Connecticut Huskies continued their impressive streak of nonconference wins on Saturday, January 11th, with an 84-64 victory over the University of New Hampshire Wildcats. UConn’s win was their 24th consecutive nonconference victory, a streak that dates back to the 2017-2018 season.
The Huskies were led by junior guard Donovan Clingan, who scored a career-high 29 points in the win. Clingan was 7-for-12 from the field and 4-for-7 from beyond the arc. He also added four rebounds and three assists in the victory.
UConn’s defense was also impressive, holding UNH to just 36.8 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent from three-point range. The Huskies also forced 15 turnovers and outrebounded the Wildcats 40-31.
The Huskies jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 22 points in the second half. UConn’s offense was efficient, shooting 51.7 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from three-point range.
The win was UConn’s 24th consecutive nonconference victory, a streak that dates back to the 2017-2018 season. The Huskies have now won 33 of their last 34 nonconference games and are off to a strong start this season.
Donovan Clingan’s impressive performance was the key to UConn’s victory on Saturday. His 29 points were a career-high, and he was a major factor in the Huskies’ success on both ends of the court.
The Huskies will look to continue their impressive streak when they take on the University of Hartford on Wednesday, January 15th. With another strong performance, UConn could extend their streak to 25 consecutive nonconference wins.
