The Miami Dolphins had a huge victory over the New York Jets on Sunday, with a final score of 34-13. The Dolphins were led by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver DeVante Parker, who both had impressive performances. However, it was the special touchdown catch by tight end Mike Gesicki and the 99-yard interception return by cornerback Xavien Howard that sealed the win for Miami.
Gesicki’s touchdown catch came in the fourth quarter, when Tagovailoa threw a perfect pass to him in the end zone. Gesicki made an incredible leaping grab over two defenders to give the Dolphins a 27-13 lead. It was Gesicki’s first touchdown of the season and it was a huge momentum swing for Miami.
Howard’s interception return was even more impressive. With the Jets driving late in the fourth quarter, Howard picked off a pass from Sam Darnold and returned it 99 yards for a touchdown. It was the longest interception return in Dolphins history and it put the game out of reach for New York.
The Dolphins defense was also impressive, as they held the Jets to just 13 points. Linebackers Jerome Baker and Kyle Van Noy both had big games, combining for 14 tackles and two sacks. Safety Eric Rowe also had a key interception in the first half that helped keep the Jets off the board.
The Dolphins now have a 3-3 record and are in second place in the AFC East. They will look to continue their winning ways next week when they face the Los Angeles Rams. With Tagovailoa, Parker, Gesicki, Howard, Baker, Van Noy, and Rowe all playing at a high level, the Dolphins have a good chance of getting their fourth win of the season.
