The Northwestern Wildcats have officially removed the interim label from head coach David Braun, recognizing his successful turnaround of the program.
Braun was named interim head coach in October of 2019 after the Wildcats had a disappointing start to the season. Since then, he has led the team to a 9-7 record and a berth in the Big Ten Tournament.
The Wildcats have seen a dramatic improvement under Braun’s leadership. The team has improved defensively, allowing fewer points per game and holding opponents to lower shooting percentages. Offensively, the Wildcats have been more efficient, shooting better from the field and from three-point range.
The Wildcats have also seen an increase in wins, with Braun leading them to victories over top-25 teams such as Purdue and Indiana. This success has been a major factor in the decision to remove the interim label from Braun.
The Northwestern administration has praised Braun for his work with the team, noting that he has been instrumental in the team’s turnaround. Athletic director Jim Phillips said, “David has done an outstanding job leading our program and we are thrilled to recognize him with this well-deserved promotion.”
The removal of the interim label is a testament to Braun’s hard work and dedication to the program. He has earned the respect of his players and coaches, and his commitment to the team has been evident in their improved performance.
The Northwestern Wildcats are now looking ahead to the future with optimism. With Braun at the helm, they are confident that they can continue to build on their success and make a deep run in the Big Ten Tournament.
