The California Golden Bears held off a late rally from the Washington State Cougars to extend their losing streak to six games. The Bears were able to take a commanding lead early in the game and never looked back.

The Bears started off the game with a bang, scoring on their first possession of the game. Quarterback Chase Garbers connected with wide receiver Kekoa Crawford for a 20-yard touchdown pass to give the Bears a 7-0 lead. The Bears would then add another touchdown in the second quarter on a one-yard run by running back Christopher Brown Jr. to make it 14-0.

The Cougars would finally get on the board in the third quarter when quarterback Cammon Cooper found wide receiver Easop Winston Jr. for a 25-yard touchdown pass. The Cougars then attempted to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, but the Bears’ defense was able to hold them off.

The Bears were able to put the game away with a late field goal from kicker Greg Thomas to make it 17-7. The win was the Bears’ fourth straight and improved their record to 5-2 on the season.

The loss was the Cougars’ sixth straight and dropped their record to 2-6 on the season. The Cougars have struggled all season and have been unable to find any consistency on either side of the ball.

The Bears will now look to continue their winning ways as they take on the Oregon Ducks next week. The Cougars will look to snap their losing streak when they take on the Arizona Wildcats next week. It will be an important game for both teams as they look to get back on track in the Pac-12.
