It’s been a long time coming, but two of the most highly-touted high school basketball players in the country are finally reuniting at the University of Washington. Keion Brooks Jr. and Sahvir Wheeler, both five-star recruits, have committed to the Huskies and are ready to help revive the program.
Keion Brooks Jr. is a 6-foot-7 forward from Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was ranked as the No. 18 overall player in the 2020 class by ESPN and was named Indiana’s Mr. Basketball in 2019. He was also a McDonald’s All-American and was selected to the Jordan Brand Classic. He chose Washington over Kentucky, Michigan State, and UCLA.
Sahvir Wheeler is a 5-foot-10 point guard from Houston, Texas. He was ranked as the No. 24 overall player in the 2020 class by ESPN and was named Texas’ Gatorade Player of the Year in 2019. He was also a McDonald’s All-American and was selected to the Jordan Brand Classic. He chose Washington over Georgia, Kansas, and Texas Tech.
The two players have been friends since they were in middle school and have been talking about playing together since then. Now, they finally have the chance to do it at the collegiate level. They are both incredibly talented players who can help the Huskies compete for a Pac-12 title and make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
Washington head coach Mike Hopkins is thrilled to have the two players on board and is looking forward to seeing what they can do together. “Keion and Sahvir are two of the best players in the country and I’m excited to see what they can do together,” Hopkins said. “They are both great leaders and have the ability to make their teammates better. I’m confident that they will help us take our program to the next level.”
