The Washington Women’s Cross-Country team had a historic day at the Pac-12 Championships on Saturday, November 9th. The Huskies captured the Pac-12 Championship title, the first in program history.
The Huskies were led by senior Allie Schadler, who finished second overall with a time of 20:09.6. Schadler was followed by freshman Ella Donaghu, who finished fourth in 20:18.5, and junior Katie Rainsberger, who finished fifth in 20:20.2. The trio of Schadler, Donaghu, and Rainsberger earned All-Pac-12 honors for their performances.
The Huskies also had strong performances from sophomore Taryn Rawlings (14th, 20:43.4) and freshman Katelyn Steen (17th, 20:47.2). The team’s depth was on full display as they had five runners finish in the top 20 and all seven runners finish in the top 30.
The Huskies’ victory was a total team effort as they scored a total of 57 points to beat out second-place Stanford (71 points) and third-place Oregon (75 points). This is the first Pac-12 title for the Huskies since joining the conference in 2011.
The Huskies will now look ahead to the NCAA Championships on November 23rd in Terre Haute, Indiana. The Huskies are looking to build on their success from the Pac-12 Championships and make a run at the national title.
