Jon Jones Injury Causes Cancellation of UFC Heavyweight Title Fight at Madison Square Garden Between Jones and Stipe Miocic

Seattle Sports

It was a highly anticipated matchup between two of the greatest UFC fighters of all time. Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic were set to face off in a heavyweight title fight at Madison Square Garden on March 28th. Unfortunately, the fight has been cancelled due to an injury suffered by Jon Jones.

The injury occurred during a training session and was severe enough to prevent Jones from competing. The UFC released a statement saying that the injury was a “severely sprained ankle” and that Jones would not be able to compete in the fight.

This is a major blow for both fighters, as they were both looking forward to the fight and had been training hard for it. Jones had been looking to make history by becoming the first fighter to win titles in two different weight classes. Miocic was looking to defend his heavyweight title and extend his record-breaking reign as champion.

The UFC is now looking for a replacement opponent for Miocic. While no official announcement has been made, there are rumors that former light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier may be the one to step in and take Jones’ place.

This is a huge disappointment for fans of both fighters, as they were looking forward to seeing this historic matchup. However, the health and safety of the fighters must come first, and it is understandable why the UFC had to cancel the fight.

We wish Jon Jones a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in the octagon soon.
