Seattle Seahawks Re-Sign Holton Ahlers to Practice Squad as Insurance for Quarterback Drew Lock’s Health

The Seattle Seahawks have made a move to bring in some insurance for quarterback Drew Lock’s health. The team has re-signed Holton Ahlers to the practice squad. Ahlers is a former East Carolina quarterback who was signed by the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in April.

Ahlers was released by the team in September after the team signed former New England Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer. Ahlers was then signed to the practice squad in October, but was released again in November.

The Seahawks have now re-signed Ahlers to the practice squad as insurance for Lock’s health. Lock has been dealing with a shoulder injury and is currently listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Ahlers is a dual-threat quarterback who is known for his ability to make plays with his feet as well as his arm. He threw for 3,942 yards and 33 touchdowns during his senior season at East Carolina. He also ran for 531 yards and 10 touchdowns during his college career.

The Seahawks are hoping that Ahlers can provide some insurance in case Lock is unable to play on Sunday. The team has already lost backup quarterback Geno Smith to a season-ending injury, so having Ahlers on the practice squad provides them with an experienced quarterback who can step in if needed.

Ahlers is a talented player who could be a valuable asset to the Seahawks if called upon. The team has shown faith in him by re-signing him to the practice squad, and it will be interesting to see if he gets an opportunity to play this season.
