At the Pac-12 Media Day on October 21st, Washington Huskies Women’s Basketball Coach Tina Langley expressed her disappointment at the Pac-12’s decision to cancel the 2020-21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coach Langley said, “It’s a really hard day for us. We were really looking forward to this season and had high hopes for our team. We had a lot of great players returning and were excited to see what we could do.”

The Huskies had been preparing for the season since June, with Coach Langley saying that the team had been “working hard in the weight room and on the court.” She also noted that the team had been “bonding and growing together” in anticipation of the upcoming season.

Coach Langley expressed her hope that the Pac-12 would reconsider its decision, saying, “We understand the need for caution in this unprecedented time, but we also know that our student-athletes have worked so hard and deserve the opportunity to compete. We hope that the Pac-12 will reconsider and that our season can still be salvaged.”

The cancellation of the season was a major blow to the Huskies, who had been looking forward to a successful season. Coach Langley said, “It’s heartbreaking for our players and our staff. We were all so excited for this season and now it’s gone. We just have to keep our heads up and keep working hard in hopes that we can still have a season.”

The Huskies will now have to wait and see if the Pac-12 will reconsider its decision and allow them to compete this season. Until then, Coach Langley and her team will continue to work hard and remain hopeful that they will get the chance to play.
