It is with great sadness that we report the passing of former Detroit Pistons assistant coach and father of Denver Nuggets head coach Brendan Malone, who passed away at the age of 81.
Brendan Malone was a beloved figure in the basketball world, having served as an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons for 13 years. He was known for his passion and dedication to the game, and was a mentor to many of the players he worked with. He was also a father figure to his son, Denver Nuggets head coach Brendan Malone, who he was very proud of.
During his time as an assistant coach for the Pistons, Brendan Malone helped the team win two NBA championships in 1989 and 1990. He was also part of the coaching staff that led the team to five consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearances from 1988 to 1992.
