The Washington Mystics are one step closer to the WNBA Finals after a 92-81 win over the Connecticut Sun in Game 2 of the semifinal series. Breanna Stewart led the way for the Mystics with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Elena Delle Donne added 22 points and 8 rebounds.
The Mystics jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 19 points in the first half. The Sun were able to cut the deficit to 10 points in the fourth quarter, but the Mystics held on for the victory.
Stewart was the star of the show for Washington, as she was able to get to the rim at will and make shots from all over the floor. She was also able to get her teammates involved, as she had four assists in the game. Delle Donne was also a force on both ends of the floor, as she was able to score in a variety of ways and also grab eight rebounds.
The Mystics were also able to get contributions from their bench, as Ariel Atkins had 14 points and 4 rebounds off the bench. The Mystics also had a strong defensive performance, as they held the Sun to just 37.5% shooting from the field.
The win gives the Mystics a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series, and puts them one win away from their first WNBA Finals appearance. The Mystics will look to close out the series in Game 4 on Sunday, and if they can do so, they will be one step closer to their first WNBA championship.
