The University of Washington Huskies football team just got a major boost to their 2021 recruiting class with the commitment of highly-rated safety Joshua Lair from Texas. Lair is a 6-foot-2, 205-pound safety who is ranked as the No. 8 safety in the nation by 247Sports. He is also the No. 16 overall recruit in the state of Texas.
Lair had offers from some of the top programs in the country including Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M. He chose the Huskies over these other schools because he felt a connection with the coaching staff and the program. He also liked the idea of playing in the Pac-12 conference, which is known for its high-level of competition.
Lair is a hard-hitting safety who has great instincts and is a sure tackler. He has good coverage skills and can play both man and zone coverage. He is also a very physical player who isn’t afraid to come up and make plays in the run game.
Lair’s commitment to the Huskies is a huge win for head coach Jimmy Lake and his staff. Lair is a great addition to an already talented secondary that includes Myles Bryant, Elijah Molden, and Kyler Gordon. Lair will be a key piece to the Huskies defense for years to come and should help them compete for Pac-12 championships.
The Huskies are off to a great start with their 2021 recruiting class and Lair’s commitment is just another example of why they are one of the top programs in the country. With Lair in the fold, the Huskies have a chance to make some noise in the Pac-12 this upcoming season.
