It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Barry Steenkamp, father of Reeva Steenkamp, who was tragically killed by Oscar Pistorius in 2013. Barry Steenkamp passed away at the age of 80 on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020.
Reeva Steenkamp was a South African model and law graduate who was shot and killed by her then-boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius, in 2013. Her death sent shockwaves throughout South Africa and the world, and her father, Barry Steenkamp, became a symbol of resilience and strength in the face of tragedy.
Barry Steenkamp was born in 1940 in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. He was a loving husband to his wife June, and a devoted father to his daughter Reeva. He worked as a horse trainer and a farmer for most of his life.
Barry Steenkamp was an outspoken advocate for justice for his daughter, and he made numerous public appearances to raise awareness about her case. He also wrote a book about his daughter’s life and death, titled “Reeva: A Father’s Story”.
