On Tuesday night, the San Diego Padres pulled off a miraculous comeback victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Down 8-2 in the sixth inning, the Padres rallied back to win 11-8, thanks in large part to a three-run homer by outfielder Juan Soto.
Soto’s heroics began in the sixth inning when he hit a two-run double to cut the Dodgers’ lead to 8-4. Then in the seventh inning, with two runners on base, Soto blasted a three-run homer to give the Padres a 9-8 lead. The Padres added two more runs in the eighth inning to seal the victory.
The win was especially sweet for the Padres, who had been struggling against the Dodgers this season. The Dodgers had won five of the six games between the two teams prior to Tuesday night’s game.
Soto’s performance was impressive, as he finished the game 3-for-5 with five RBIs and two runs scored. He also made several key defensive plays in center field, including a diving catch in the fourth inning that saved a run.
The win was a huge morale boost for the Padres, who are now just two games behind the Dodgers in the NL West standings. With Soto leading the way, the Padres have a real chance of making a run at the division title.
