The Washington Huskies volleyball team had a successful weekend at the Husky Invite, sweeping the tournament with an undefeated 3-0 record. The Huskies started off the tournament with a 3-0 win over the University of Idaho, followed by a 3-1 victory over Portland State and then a 3-0 win over Montana State.
The Huskies were led by senior outside hitter Kara Bajema, who had a total of 32 kills and 12 digs throughout the tournament. Bajema was named the tournament MVP for her impressive performance. Senior setter Ella May Powell also had an impressive weekend, recording a total of 67 assists and 11 digs.
The Huskies’ defense was also key to their success, as they held their opponents to a combined .150 hitting percentage throughout the tournament. Senior libero Avie Niece was instrumental in this effort, recording a total of 34 digs over the weekend.
The Huskies’ undefeated record at the Husky Invite is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team. The team’s chemistry was evident throughout the tournament and they will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming matches.
The Huskies will next face off against Oregon State on October 11th in Corvallis, Oregon. With their impressive performance at the Husky Invite, the Huskies will look to continue their winning streak against the Beavers.
