The USC Trojans had a lot of hype surrounding their season opener against Nevada, and they certainly delivered. Led by Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams, the sixth-ranked Trojans absolutely dominated the Wolf Pack, winning 66-14.
Williams was the star of the show, throwing five touchdown passes in his debut for USC. He completed 24 of his 33 passes for 324 yards and the five touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown, giving him six total touchdowns on the day.
The Trojans were in control from the start, scoring on their first four possessions to take a 28-0 lead. Williams threw three of his touchdown passes in the first half, and the Trojans took a 42-7 lead into halftime.
The second half was more of the same, as USC scored on their first three possessions to take a 59-7 lead. Williams threw his fifth touchdown pass late in the third quarter, and the Trojans cruised to victory from there.
The USC defense was also impressive, holding Nevada to just seven points and forcing three turnovers. The Trojans had four sacks and seven tackles for loss in the game.
It was an impressive debut for Williams and the Trojans, and they will look to build on this performance as they head into their next game against Colorado State. With Williams at the helm, USC looks like they could be one of the top teams in college football this season.
