On April 1st, 2021, the University of Washington announced the departure of Athletic Director Jen Cohen. After five years of leading the Husky Athletics program, Cohen is leaving to take on a new role as the Vice President of Athletics at Stanford University.
During her tenure at the University of Washington, Cohen made a lasting impact on the school’s athletics program. She was instrumental in securing a $50 million donation from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, which was used to fund the renovation of Husky Stadium and the construction of the new Husky Softball Stadium.
Cohen also worked to improve the academic performance of student-athletes. She implemented a program that provided academic support for student-athletes, which resulted in an increase in the graduation rate of student-athletes from 68% to 78%.
In addition, Cohen was a strong advocate for gender equity in athletics. She hired the first female head coach in the school’s history and increased the number of female coaches on staff. She also worked to ensure that female athletes had access to the same resources and opportunities as their male counterparts.
