Western & Southern Open: Top Seeds Swiatek and Alcaraz Advance to Semifinals

The Western & Southern Open is in full swing, and the top seeds have been making their mark. Poland’s Iga Swiatek and Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz have both advanced to the semifinals, making them the first players to do so.

Swiatek, the world number 17, has been on a roll since the start of the tournament. She has won all four of her matches in straight sets, including her quarterfinal match against American Jessica Pegula. Swiatek is now one win away from her first W&S Open final.

Alcaraz, the world number 72, has also been impressive in his run to the semifinals. He defeated compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut in the quarterfinals, winning in three sets. Alcaraz is now one win away from his first W&S Open final as well.

Both Swiatek and Alcaraz have been playing some of their best tennis this week, and they will be looking to continue their success in the semifinals. Swiatek will face off against American Madison Keys, while Alcaraz will take on Canadian Milos Raonic.
