The British Open is in full swing and the leaderboard is packed with some of the world’s best golfers. On Saturday, Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood took the lead after the cut.
McIlroy, a four-time major champion, shot a five-under-par 67 to move to 11-under-par for the tournament. He is two shots ahead of Fleetwood, who carded a six-under-par 66.
McIlroy has been in fine form this week, making birdies on the first, fourth, sixth, eighth and ninth holes. He also had an eagle on the par-five 14th hole. His only bogey came on the par-four 18th hole.
Fleetwood, meanwhile, was also in impressive form. He made birdies on the third, fifth, seventh, ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th holes. His only bogey came on the par-three 17th hole.
The pair are now in pole position to win the Claret Jug and will be looking to build on their lead in the final round. They will face stiff competition from the likes of Jon Rahm, Shane Lowry and Justin Rose, who are all within four shots of the lead.
It promises to be an exciting final round at Royal Portrush and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top. McIlroy and Fleetwood have put themselves in a great position to win the tournament and it will be fascinating to see if they can hold off the chasing pack.
