Baseball legend Ken Griffey Jr. recently held the first ever Swingman Classic, a tournament featuring players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The tournament was held in Atlanta, Georgia, and featured teams from Alabama A&M, Florida A&M, and Morehouse College. Griffey Jr. was the host of the event and said he wanted to give HBCU players an opportunity to showcase their talent.
Griffey Jr. said he was inspired to create the tournament after he saw a lack of HBCU players in the Major League Baseball (MLB) draft. He wanted to give HBCU players a chance to show off their skills and get noticed by MLB scouts. He also wanted to show that HBCU players can compete with players from other universities.
The tournament was a great success and featured some amazing plays. Griffey Jr. was impressed with the talent he saw and said, “These kids can play.” He also praised the coaches for their hard work and dedication to the teams.
The tournament was a great opportunity for HBCU players to get noticed by MLB scouts and show that they can compete with players from other universities. It was also a great way for Griffey Jr. to give back to the community and show his support for HBCU players.
Griffey Jr.’s Swingman Classic was a great success and showed that HBCU players have the talent to compete with players from other universities. It was also a great way for Griffey Jr. to give back to the community and show his support for HBCU players.
