Washington State University (WSU) football has recently received a commitment from a highly-ranked running back from California. The recruit, Jaden Jones, is a four-star recruit according to 247Sports and is ranked as the No. 20 running back in the nation.
Jones is a 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back from Los Angeles, California. He attended Westchester High School and was a three-year varsity starter. During his senior year, he rushed for 1,919 yards and 24 touchdowns on just 155 carries. Jones was also named to the All-City Section first team and was an All-State selection.
Jones chose WSU over offers from several other schools, including Arizona State, Colorado, Oregon State, and Utah. He is the ninth recruit to commit to the Cougars in the 2021 recruiting class and the second running back. The other running back in the class is four-star recruit Tariq White from Texas.
The addition of Jones to the WSU football team will be a great asset to the program. He is an explosive runner with great vision and agility. He has the ability to make defenders miss in the open field and can break off long runs. He is also a solid pass catcher out of the backfield and can be used in the passing game.
The WSU football team is looking to build off of their successful 2019 season where they finished 11-2 and won the Alamo Bowl. With the addition of Jones, they will have one of the best running back corps in the Pac-12. The Cougars are hoping that Jones can help them take the next step and compete for a Pac-12 championship.
