The Washington State Cougars have received a commitment from Eastside Catholic three-star cornerback Tyson Weaver. Weaver, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound defensive back, is rated as the No. 14 cornerback in the state of Washington and the No. 541 overall prospect in the 2021 class, according to 247Sports.
Weaver announced his commitment to the Cougars on Twitter, writing, “I am blessed to announce that I have committed to Washington State University!” He also thanked his family, coaches, and teammates for their support throughout his recruitment process.
Weaver is the second cornerback to commit to the Cougars in the 2021 class, joining three-star recruit Jaden Robinson from Seattle. He is the 12th overall commitment for the Cougars in the 2021 class and the fourth from the state of Washington.
Weaver had offers from several other schools, including Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado State, and Oregon State. He chose the Cougars over these other schools due to their strong defensive tradition and the opportunity to compete for a Pac-12 championship.
Weaver is an athletic cornerback who excels in man coverage. He has good speed and agility and is able to stay with receivers in routes. He is also a physical player who can make plays in the run game.
Washington State head coach Nick Rolovich is excited to have Weaver join the team. “Tyson is an outstanding athlete and a great addition to our program,” Rolovich said. “He has great size and speed, and he will be a great asset to our defense. We are excited to have him join our team and look forward to watching him develop as a player.”
Weaver is a great addition to the Cougars’ 2021 recruiting class and will be a key contributor to their defense in the future. With his commitment, the Cougars now have 12 players committed in their 2021 class and are continuing to build a strong foundation for their future success.
