The Seattle Storm earned their first road victory of the season on Sunday, defeating the Phoenix Mercury in a thrilling game. The Storm, who had lost their first three road games of the season, came out strong in the first half, taking a nine-point lead into halftime.
The Mercury fought back in the second half, taking a two-point lead with just over two minutes remaining. However, the Storm responded with a late surge, outscoring the Mercury 7-2 in the final two minutes to secure the victory.
The Storm were led by guard Jewell Loyd, who scored a team-high 18 points. Forward Breanna Stewart added 17 points and seven rebounds, while guard Sue Bird chipped in with 11 points and seven assists.
The win was a much-needed one for the Storm, who had struggled on the road this season. The victory also snapped a two-game losing streak for the Storm, who have now won three of their last four games.
The Mercury were led by guard Diana Taurasi, who scored a game-high 22 points. Forward DeWanna Bonner added 17 points and seven rebounds, while guard Briann January chipped in with 13 points and four assists.
