On Saturday, July 13th, the Tacoma Rainiers took on the Sacramento River Cats in Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, Washington. The Rainiers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, were looking to extend their winning streak to four games.
The Rainiers started off strong, scoring three runs in the first inning. They continued to add to their lead throughout the game, eventually winning 8-3. The Rainiers’ offense was led by catcher Joe DeCarlo, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
The Rainiers’ pitching was also impressive, as starter Christian Bergman pitched five innings and allowed only one run on three hits. Reliever Ryan Garton came in for relief in the sixth inning and struck out two batters while allowing no runs.
The win was the Rainiers’ fourth in a row and improved their record to 47-46 on the season. The team is currently in second place in the Pacific Coast League’s Pacific Northern Division.
The game was played in front of a sold-out crowd of 7,000 at Cheney Stadium. Fans were treated to a great game between two teams fighting for a playoff spot. The atmosphere was electric and the fans were loud and enthusiastic throughout the game.
