On August 10th, 2019, Laura Harvey reached a major milestone in her coaching career with Reign FC. She became the first head coach in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) to reach 500 matches coached.
Harvey began her coaching career in 2008 with Arsenal Ladies in the English Women’s Super League. She then moved on to the Seattle Reign FC in 2013, where she has been ever since. During her time with the Reign, she has led the team to two NWSL Shields and four playoff appearances.
Harvey is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in women’s soccer. She is known for her tactical acumen and her ability to develop players. She has been credited with helping to develop some of the best players in the NWSL, including Megan Rapinoe, Allie Long, and Jess Fishlock.
Reign FC celebrated Harvey’s 500th match with a special ceremony before the game. The team presented her with a commemorative plaque and a special video tribute from her players. The team also wore special jerseys for the match that featured Harvey’s name and number on the back.
