Mercer Island High School recently won the 3A Team Tennis Championships, and it was a momentous occasion for the school and its students. The team, which was led by coach Jeff Smith, had a tremendous season and was able to come out on top against some of the toughest competition in the state.
The team had a great season, finishing with an impressive record of 17-1. They were able to defeat some of the top teams in the state, including defending champions Garfield High School. The team was also able to win the KingCo League Championship, which is a major accomplishment for any team.
The team was led by senior captains Max Kostelnik and Jack O’Neill, who both had outstanding seasons. Max was the team’s top singles player and was able to win several important matches throughout the season. Jack was the team’s top doubles player and was able to provide a great deal of support for his teammates.
The team also had a great supporting cast, which included juniors Sam Smith and Ryan Smith, sophomores Alex Johnson and Nick Johnson, and freshman Jake O’Neill. All of these players contributed to the team’s success and helped them reach their ultimate goal of winning the 3A Team Tennis Championships.
The team’s victory was celebrated by the entire Mercer Island community. The school held a special assembly to honor the team and their accomplishments. The players were presented with medals and certificates of achievement, and the school also held a parade to celebrate their victory.
The Mercer Island High School tennis team’s victory is a testament to their hard work and dedication. They worked tirelessly throughout the season and were able to come out on top against some of the toughest competition in the state.
