On Tuesday, Oregon State Athletics Director Scott Barnes was hospitalized in Fresno, California. According to a statement released by Oregon State, Barnes was admitted to the hospital for a “medical procedure” and is expected to make a full recovery.
Barnes has been the Athletics Director at Oregon State since 2014. He has been credited with helping to turn around the school’s athletic program, which had been struggling in recent years. During his tenure, the school has seen an increase in attendance at football and basketball games, as well as improved performance in other sports.
Barnes’ absence from Oregon State is expected to be brief, as the school expects him to be back in Corvallis soon. In the meantime, Deputy Athletics Director Mark Massari will serve as the interim Athletics Director.
The Oregon State community wishes Barnes a speedy recovery and looks forward to his return. Barnes has been an integral part of the school’s success and his presence will be missed while he is away.
