The Washington Women’s Golf team had a strong showing in the first round of the Pac-12 Championships, placing eighth overall. The Huskies shot a collective score of 305 (+17) on the par-72, 6,093-yard Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Washington.
Leading the way for the Huskies was senior Julianne Alvarez, who shot a one-over-par 73 to finish the day in a tie for 10th place. Alvarez was followed closely by freshman Sarah Rhee, who shot a two-over-par 74 to finish the day in a tie for 16th place.
The Huskies also had strong performances from junior Wenyung Keh and sophomore Ying Luo, who both shot four-over-par 76s to finish the day in a tie for 33rd place. Sophomore Charlotte Thomas rounded out the Huskies’ scoring with an eight-over-par 80 to finish the day in a tie for 53rd place.
The Huskies are currently in eighth place, but are only three strokes behind sixth-place Oregon State and four strokes behind fifth-place UCLA. The Huskies will look to make up ground in the second round of the tournament, which will begin tomorrow morning.
The Pac-12 Championships is the final tournament of the regular season for the Huskies, and they will be looking to end their season on a high note. With a strong performance in the second round, the Huskies could move up in the standings and end their season on a positive note.
