The Florida Atlantic University Owls had a chance to make history on Saturday night, but ultimately fell short in an exciting 72-71 loss to San Diego State in the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. The Owls, who had never before made it this far in the tournament, put up a valiant effort against the Aztecs, but were unable to come away with the win.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading leads throughout the first half. FAU was able to take a slim lead into halftime, but San Diego State came out of the break with a renewed energy and quickly took control of the game. The Aztecs were able to build a double-digit lead late in the second half, but the Owls refused to go away, cutting the deficit to just one point with just seconds remaining.

Unfortunately for FAU, they were unable to get off a final shot attempt before time expired, and San Diego State was able to hold on for the win. Despite the loss, the Owls can take pride in their historic run to the Final Four. They were able to defeat some of the top teams in the country on their way to the final four, and their performance in this game showed that they are more than capable of competing with the best teams in the nation.

The loss was a heartbreaking one for FAU, but they can take solace in knowing that they gave it their all and put up a fight against one of the top teams in the nation. The Owls have made history this year, and they will look to build on this success next season.
