The University of Washington men’s basketball team is thrilled to announce that Franck Kepnang will be rejoining the team for the upcoming season. Kepnang, a 6-foot-10 center from Cameroon, was a key part of the Huskies’ success during the 2018-19 season, averaging 8.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He was also named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.
Kepnang left the team in the summer of 2019 to pursue professional opportunities in Europe, but he has decided to return to the University of Washington for his sophomore season. He will be eligible to play immediately and is expected to make an immediate impact on the team.
Kepnang’s return is a huge boost for the Huskies, who are coming off a disappointing 2019-20 season in which they finished with a 9-22 record. Kepnang’s size and athleticism will give the Huskies a much-needed presence in the paint and should help them improve on the defensive end. He also has the ability to stretch the floor with his shooting, which will help open up the offense.
Kepnang’s return is a major win for the Huskies, and it could be the spark that helps them turn their fortunes around. With Kepnang back in the fold, the Huskies have a chance to make some noise in the Pac-12 this season and beyond.
Welcome back, Franck!
