The Philadelphia 76ers have been on a roll lately, and last night was no exception. Behind a career-high 50 points from rookie guard Tyrese Maxey, the 76ers defeated the Washington Wizards to win their 8th straight game.
Maxey, who was drafted 21st overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, has been a revelation for the 76ers this season. He has been a spark plug off the bench, providing energy and scoring punch for the team. Last night, he took his game to a new level, scoring 50 points on an efficient 18-of-26 shooting from the field. He also added 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the victory.
The win was a team effort, however, as the 76ers had six players score in double figures. Tobias Harris had 19 points and 9 rebounds, while Ben Simmons added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Seth Curry also chipped in with 15 points and 4 assists.
The 76ers have now won 8 straight games and are currently the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference. They have been playing some of their best basketball of the season and look to be a serious contender in the playoffs. With Maxey continuing to play at a high level, the 76ers could be a dangerous team come playoff time.
It was an impressive performance from Maxey and the 76ers last night, and they will look to keep their winning streak alive when they take on the Boston Celtics on Friday night.
