2023 College Football Coaches Under Pressure: Brown at West Virginia, Allen at Indiana, Drinkwitz at Missouri

Nation & World, Sports Seattle

As the college football season of 2023 approaches, three coaches in particular are feeling the pressure to succeed. Neal Brown of West Virginia, Tom Allen of Indiana, and Eli Drinkwitz of Missouri are all entering their third season at their respective schools and expectations are high.

Neal Brown has been the head coach at West Virginia since 2019 and has had a mixed record. He led the Mountaineers to a 7-5 record in 2019 and a 5-4 record in 2020, but the team regressed to 4-7 in 2021. Brown is now under pressure to turn things around in 2023 and get the team back to its winning ways. He has recruited well and has a talented roster, so the expectations are that he will be able to get the team back on track.

Tom Allen has been the head coach at Indiana since 2018 and has steadily improved the program. He led the Hoosiers to a 5-7 record in 2018, a 8-5 record in 2019, and a 9-3 record in 2020. The 2021 season was a disappointment, however, as the Hoosiers finished with a 6-6 record. Allen is now under pressure to get the team back to its winning ways and compete for a Big Ten title in 2023.

Eli Drinkwitz is entering his third season as the head coach at Missouri. He led the Tigers to a 5-5 record in 2019 and a 7-4 record in 2020, but the team regressed to 4-7 in 2021. Drinkwitz is now under pressure to turn things around in 2023 and get the team back to its winning ways. He has recruited well and has a talented roster, so the expectations are that he will be able to get the team back on track.

All three coaches have their work cut out for them in 2023. They have all shown that they can be successful coaches, but they are now under pressure to prove that they can take their respective teams to the next level. It will be interesting to see how they respond to the pressure and if they can lead their teams to success in 2023.
