Modeling privacy policy on Environmental Impact Statements

We’ve written before about how Seattle’s RSJI toolkit might be a good starting point for thinking about how to incorporate a privacy review into the processes of creating new programs and legislation in the City of Seattle.

Now here’s Michael Froomkin’s latest privacy paper, Regulating Mass Surveillance as Privacy Pollution: Learning from Environmental Impact Statements, discussion of modeling privacy rules on environmental regulations. We have forwarded to Councilmember O’Brien for consideration during the summer’s research into how to make a data privacy board effective.
