The incident occurred during a game against the Phoenix Suns on March 12th. After teammate Dillon Brooks was fouled hard by Suns guard Chris Paul, Morant left the bench to confront Paul. While Morant was not involved in the altercation, he was suspended for leaving the bench.
Morant’s suspension was a huge blow to the Grizzlies, who have been fighting for a playoff spot in the Western Conference. Without their star point guard, the team went 1-1 in his absence, losing to the Denver Nuggets and beating the Minnesota Timberwolves.
