It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Peter Seidler, the San Diego Padres owner who invested heavily in pursuit of a World Series title. Seidler passed away at the age of 63.
Seidler was born in San Diego and was a lifelong Padres fan. He was a part of the ownership group that purchased the team in 2012 and became the lead investor in 2014. He was passionate about bringing a championship to San Diego and invested heavily in the team, signing big-name free agents such as Manny Machado and Eric Hosmer, and making key trades to acquire talent.
Seidler was also an advocate for the San Diego community, donating to numerous causes and charities. He was a major supporter of the Padres Foundation, which provides educational and recreational opportunities for underserved youth in San Diego.
Seidler was beloved by Padres fans and players alike. He will be remembered for his passion for the team and his commitment to making San Diego a better place. His legacy will live on in the hearts of Padres fans everywhere.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Seidler’s family and friends during this difficult time.
