Arizona Diamondbacks’ Ketel Marte Sets Record for Longest Postseason Hitting Streak, Surpassing Derek Jeter and Two Others

MLB Seattle

The Arizona Diamondbacks’ Ketel Marte has made history, setting a new record for the longest postseason hitting streak. Marte’s streak of seven consecutive games with a hit surpassed the previous record of six games, held by Derek Jeter, Carlos Beltran, and Bernie Williams.

The streak began on October 5th, when Marte hit a double off Clayton Kershaw in Game 1 of the National League Division Series. He followed that up with a single in Game 2, and then a home run in Game 3. He kept the streak alive with a single in Game 4, and then a double in Game 5. He then hit a single in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, and then a double in Game 2.

Marte’s streak is even more impressive when you consider that he was facing some of the best pitchers in baseball during the postseason. He was able to get hits off of Kershaw, Justin Verlander, and Rich Hill, among others. His ability to stay consistent and make contact against some of the best pitchers in the game is a testament to his skill as a hitter.

Marte’s record-breaking streak is just the latest accomplishment in what has been an impressive season for the Diamondbacks’ outfielder. He was named an All-Star for the first time this season, and he finished the regular season with a .312 batting average, 32 home runs, and 92 RBIs. He also had an impressive .958 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage).

Ketel Marte’s record-breaking hitting streak is a remarkable accomplishment, and it’s one that will be remembered for years to come. His ability to stay consistent and make contact against some of the best pitchers in baseball is a testament to his skill as a hitter, and it’s something that will no doubt help him continue to be successful in the postseason.
