The Atlanta Dream have done it again! On October 10th, the Aces defeated the Las Vegas Aces 64-61 to capture their second consecutive WNBA Finals title. It was a hard-fought battle between two of the league’s top teams, but in the end, the Aces were able to come out on top.
The Aces were led by MVP A’ja Wilson, who had a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds. She was joined by Angel McCoughtry, who added 17 points and 8 rebounds, and Renee Montgomery, who contributed 13 points and 4 assists. The Aces’ defense was also key, as they held the Wings to just 61 points, their lowest scoring output of the entire playoffs.
The Wings were led by Liz Cambage, who had a team-high 18 points and 8 rebounds. She was joined by Kayla McBride, who added 15 points and 5 assists, and Aerial Powers, who contributed 11 points and 3 rebounds. Despite their best efforts, the Wings were unable to overcome the Aces’ defense and fell short in the end.
The Aces’ win marks their second consecutive WNBA Finals title, making them just the third team in WNBA history to accomplish this feat. It is also the first time in franchise history that the Aces have won back-to-back championships. The team is now looking forward to defending their title next season.
