It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pat Corrales, former Major League manager, coach, and catcher. Corrales passed away at the age of 82 on February 1, 2021.
Corrales was born in Los Angeles, California in 1938. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1959 and made his Major League debut in 1962. Corrales played for the Phillies, Cleveland Indians, and Atlanta Braves during his playing career. He was a two-time All-Star catcher and was a member of the 1965 World Series champion Phillies.
After his playing career, Corrales went on to become a successful manager and coach in the Major Leagues. He managed the Cleveland Indians from 1983 to 1985 and the Philadelphia Phillies from 1988 to 1989. He also served as a coach for the San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, and Atlanta Braves.
Corrales was known for his passion for the game and his ability to connect with players. He was beloved by fans and players alike and was respected throughout the baseball community. His legacy will live on through the many players he helped develop during his career.
