The Seattle Mariners have made a roster move, placing catcher Tom Murphy on the 10-day injured list due to a right forearm strain. To fill his spot on the roster, the Mariners have recalled catcher Brian O’Keefe from their Triple-A affiliate, the Tacoma Rainiers.

Murphy has been dealing with the injury since early April, and the team decided to place him on the injured list in order to give him time to heal properly. Murphy has been a key part of the Mariners’ lineup this season, batting .250 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 18 games.

O’Keefe, who was drafted by the Mariners in the 10th round of the 2016 MLB Draft, will take Murphy’s place on the roster. O’Keefe has been playing well in Triple-A this season, batting .286 with four home runs and 15 RBIs in 22 games.

The Mariners are hoping that O’Keefe can provide a spark to their lineup while Murphy is out. The team is currently in second place in the American League West division, and they are hoping to make a push for the playoffs this season.

It remains to be seen how long Murphy will be out, but the Mariners are hoping that he can return to the lineup soon. In the meantime, O’Keefe will look to make an impact and help the team reach their goal of making the postseason.
